Disney+ and Hulu order a Glee reboot from 20th Television

The new series comes from the studio behind the original Fox musical comedy, with no casting announced yet.

Disney+ and Hulu have given a series order to a reboot of Glee, according to deadline.com. The new series is produced by 20th Television, the same studio behind the original show.

No casting was announced as part of the series order, and no premiere date has been set.

The original Glee ran for six seasons on Fox from 2009 to 2015 and currently streams on Hulu. Ryan Murphy co-created it with Ian Brennan and Brad Falchuk.

The order follows months of comments from Murphy about the show's renewed popularity. In July 2026 he said Glee had come back around and suggested revisiting it, and less than two months before this announcement he said he had just finished a reboot script. In September 2026 he said he had been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members.

Some of those cast members have spoken about the prospect with caution. Chris Colfer told Bustle earlier in October 2026 that it would be hard to do the show now that Naya Rivera is gone; Rivera, an original cast member, died in 2020, and Cory Monteith, also an original cast member, died in 2013.

Glee won six Emmys, including for Murphy, cast member Jane Lynch, and guest stars Neil Patrick Harris and Gwyneth Paltrow. Disney said the show currently draws around 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
