Golden Horse Nominations: 'Arrested Memory' Leads With 11

'Arrested Memory' tops the 63rd Golden Horse Awards nominations with 11, followed by 'Girl' with 10. Ceremony set for Nov. 22 in Taipei.

Sabu's Arrested Memory leads the 63rd Golden Horse Awards with 11 nominations, the most of any film this year, organizers announced as the nominees were read out by Ma Shih-yuan and Jimmy Liu.

Girl followed with 10 nominations, while Double Happiness and We Are Born Good each landed nine. All four films are nominated for best narrative feature and best film editing, with We Are All Strangers taking the fifth best narrative feature slot.

The best director race includes Herman Yau, Edmund Yeo, Joseph Hsu Chen-chieh, Sabu and Anthony Chen. In the best new director category, the nominees are Shu Qi, Yeung Leung-chuen, Priscilla Ang Geck-geck, Shieh Meng-ju and Michelle Zhou.

Best leading actor nominees are Ethan Juan, Leon Dai, Liu Kuan-ting, Yeung Wai-lun and Jack Tan, while Yeo Yann-yann, Angela Yuen, Jennifer Yu, Liang Cuishan and Chung Suet-ying will compete for best leading actress.

Organizers received 587 entries this year. Moya Chou was named Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year, and Yu Kan-ping will receive the lifetime achievement award. The jury will be revealed in late October.

Ceremony moves to Sunday

The Golden Horse Film Festival opens Nov. 6, with the awards ceremony set for Nov. 22 at Taipei Music Center. From this edition onward, the ceremony takes place on a Sunday rather than a Saturday.
