Cargo Film & Releasing will open Habiba Nosheen's documentary at DCTV's Firehouse Cinema in New York City, then expand to more than 20 cities.
Cargo Film & Releasing has scheduled an October 23 theatrical release for the documentary The Gymnasts of Fishermen Colony, the distributor announced alongside an exclusive trailer for the film.
The film will open at DCTV's Firehouse Cinema in New York City before expanding to more than 20 cities, among them Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Houston, Cleveland and Santa Fe. Canadian distributor Blue Ice Docs will handle the Toronto release.
The Gymnasts of Fishermen Colony is directed by Habiba Nosheen and produced by Amar Lohana and Nosheen.
Festival run
The documentary held its world premiere in Documentary Competition at the 2026 Tribeca Festival, where it finished among the top three documentaries for the festival's Audience Award, according to Deadline. It has since screened at the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival in South Korea, the Calgary International Film Festival in Alberta and the Chicago South Asian Film Festival, and it screens this weekend at the Zurich Film Festival.
