HBO Orders Two Seasons of Archer Team's Merrick & Treves
HBO has picked up two seasons of the half-hour animated comedy from Adam Reed, Casey Willis and Lucky Yates, with no release window announced.
HBO announced on October 13 that it has ordered two seasons of Merrick & Treves, a half-hour animated workplace comedy about secret agents of Queen Victoria's Royal Temporal Constabulary hunting Jack the Ripper.
Adam Reed, Casey Willis and Lucky Yates will serve as co-creators and co-executive producers of the series. The three previously worked together on Archer, the FX animated sitcom Reed created, which ran for 14 seasons between 2009 and 2023; Willis was an executive producer on the show and Yates was a star. Archer began as a James Bond spoof and later moved through genres including film noir and space opera, including a multi-season arc in which Sterling Archer was in a coma.
HBO has not shared a release window for Merrick & Treves. The project joins a run of animated orders at the network and its streaming service HBO Max, including Creature Commandos from James Gunn and Dean Lorey, which was announced in January 2023 and premiered in December 2024, and President Curtis, the first spinoff of Rick and Morty, announced in July 2025 and premiered about a year later.
An established animation pipeline
Rick and Morty, which began as a parody of Back to the Future and Doctor Who, has run for nine seasons on Adult Swim, HBO's sibling network. Polygon reported the order.
