Hildur Guðnadóttir to Score Sarah Polley's 'The Bell Jar'
Composer Hildur Guðnadóttir confirmed she is scoring Sarah Polley's adaptation of 'The Bell Jar,' which stars Billie Eilish and has wrapped filming.
Composer Hildur Guðnadóttir has confirmed she is writing the score for Sarah Polley's adaptation of "The Bell Jar," the Sylvia Plath novel. The film has recently finished filming and stars Billie Eilish in her first starring role, according to Variety.
Guðnadóttir said she wrote themes for "The Bell Jar" that Polley could play on set during production, and that she discussed the music with both Eilish and Polley.
The composer said she was mixing "Enemies," an A24 thriller produced by Ari Aster, shortly before traveling to Belgium. Henry Dunham directed "Enemies," which stars Jeremy Allen White and Austin Butler.
Guðnadóttir also scored Nia DaCosta's "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple." All percussion in that film was made from animal bones, she said. Young Fathers scored Danny Boyle's "28 Years Later."

Guðnadóttir won an Oscar for her score for "Joker" and previously worked with Polley on 2022's Oscar-winning "Women Talking." In October 2025, she was the guest of honor at the World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent.
