Hulu Picks Up 'Durango' to Series; Chris Storer Joins as EP
Hulu orders 'Durango' to series with Cooper Hoffman and Kathryn Newton starring, as Merritt Wever, Mason Gooding and Abbey Lee join the cast.
Hulu has given a series order to Durango, starring Cooper Hoffman and Kathryn Newton, according to Deadline. Merritt Wever, Mason Gooding and Abbey Lee have joined the cast, and Chris Storer, creator of The Bear, has boarded as an executive producer.
Hoffman plays Mikey, described as a ski bum townie. Newton plays Bunny, a homeschooled runaway working as a waitress. Wever plays Joni, a local detective, Gooding plays Miles, a young detective, and Lee plays Irina, Mikey's Russian wife.
Durango is produced by 20th Television and Media Res. Eliza Clark wrote the series and executive produces with Michael Ellenberg, Christina Malach, Storer, Josh Senior and Tyson Bidner. Jesse Peretz directed and executive produced the pilot.
Background
Seven months before the series order, Hulu ordered a pilot for Durango. The pickup follows other Hulu pilot orders in recent months, including YA drama Foster Dade, starring Matt Bomer and written by Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran, which Hulu passed on in May, and a comedy titled Lex from Sean Clements and Paul Simms, which is about to go into production. In February, Hulu ordered a pilot for Ryan Coogler's The X-Files reboot starring Danielle Deadwyler, which was picked up to series earlier this week.
