Lionsgate Sets October 28 Ticket Date for Sunrise on the Reaping

Early-access screenings in IMAX, Dolby Cinema and other premium formats begin November 18, two days before the film's November 20 opening.

Lionsgate will put tickets for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping on sale on October 28, 2026, the studio announced. The film opens in theaters on November 20, 2026.

Early-access screenings in premium large formats begin on November 18, 2026, two days before the wide release. The participating formats are IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, ScreenX, Cinemark XD, Regal RPX and AMC Prime. Tickets for these screenings are available only at participating theaters, according to comingsoon.net.

Francis Lawrence directed the film from a screenplay by Billy Ray and Michael Lesslie. Joseph Zada stars as teenage Haymitch Abernathy, with a cast that includes Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Mckenna Grace, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak, Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Ben Wang.

The story follows Haymitch as he competes in the 50th Hunger Games, the Second Quarter Quell, in which each district sent four tributes instead of the usual two. The film is based on Suzanne Collins' 2025 novel Sunrise on the Reaping.

Color Force produced the film, with Lawrence, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson serving as producers. Lionsgate is distributing.
