Jack Reacher is heading back to shelves. Chain Reaction, the 31st novel in the series, is set for release on October 20, 2026, according to Screen Rant. The book is co-written by Lee Child and his son Andrew Child and runs 384 pages.
Delacorte Press will publish the novel in the US, with Bantam Press handling the UK release on the same date. It is currently available for pre-order.
The story centers on General Susan Turner, who contacts Reacher after a member of her team is murdered on a covert assignment. Turner has appeared in multiple earlier Reacher novels, first introduced as a high-ranking military officer.
A franchise still expanding
The Jack Reacher series has produced 30 full-length novels since Killing Floor was released in 1997. Andrew Child began co-writing with his father in 2020, with an announcement that he would eventually take over the franchise entirely. Exit Strategy arrived in hardcover in late 2025 and in paperback in March 2026.
On screen, the Reacher TV adaptation's latest season wrapped up in mid-September 2026, after running from mid-August to mid-September 2026. The series has adapted four Reacher novels so far: Killing Floor, Bad Luck And Trouble, Persuader, and Gone Tomorrow. The next season is set to adapt Make Me.
