James Gunn Denies Man of Tomorrow Test-Screening Rumors

Gunn says a rumor of a poor test screening and dark ending is untrue, and that an early director's cut is already being shown to Peter Safran.

James Gunn has denied a rumor that Man of Tomorrow drew a poor test-screening response because of a dark ending and the death of a beloved hero. The director and DC Studios co-head addressed the claim in a post on Threads, according to comingsoon.net.

Gunn also revealed that an early director's cut of Man of Tomorrow now exists and is ready to watch. He confirmed he is screening the initial cut for DC Studios co-head Peter Safran, roughly a month ahead of schedule.

Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027. The film's cast includes David Corenswet as the lead, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, and Adria Arjona in a pivotal unnamed role.
