Jensen Ackles: Countdown Axed After Studio Leadership Change
Ackles told a SPNVan panel the Prime Video drama stayed in the platform's top three for all ten weeks but was not renewed for a second season.
Jensen Ackles said the cancellation of Countdown was likely driven by a change in studio leadership, speaking during a panel at SPNVan on October 11, 2026, according to screenrant.com.
The actor said the Prime Video crime drama ranked in the top three on the platform for all ten weeks it aired, but was not renewed for a second season. He suggested one reason for the decision was that the head of the studio left and new leadership wanted to pursue their own projects.
Ackles described the show as collateral damage, saying it had not had time to solidify itself.
