Jesse Eisenberg is preparing an untitled TV series for A24 that he will write, executive produce and direct, with Peter Rice also executive producing. The project is expected to be taken out in the coming weeks, according to Deadline.
The series is based on a short story by Eisenberg about a young woman whose beliefs are challenged by new ideas and relationships. Eisenberg said the story is about the beginning of the culture wars and follows an 18-year-old girl in the fall of 2002. The series is currently untitled.
Rice, who was just named Chief Content Officer for Netflix, is an executive producer on the project under his A24 deal. He is not expected to be hands-on going forward but will likely retain his executive producer credit. Netflix will likely be among the outlets in the mix for the series.
Eisenberg's latest film as writer-director is A24's The Debut, starring Julianne Moore. It is his third feature behind the camera, following 2022's When You Finish Saving the World and A Real Pain.
Netflix is home to A24 shows including Beef, Trigger Point and an upcoming untitled Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour spy drama.
