KimStim Takes North American Rights to 'Donkey Princess'
KimStim has acquired North American distribution rights to 'Donkey Princess' from Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña, with a 2027 theatrical release planned.
KimStim has acquired North American distribution rights to Donkey Princess, the latest feature from directors Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña. The deal was closed by KimStim co-president Ian Stimler and Bendita Film Sales CEO Luis Renart.
The distributor plans a North American theatrical release for the film in 2027, to be followed by digital and home-video editions.
Donkey Princess world premiered in the International Competition at the Locarno Film Festival and had its North American premiere at Austin's Fantastic Fest, according to Variety.
The acquisition extends a long-running relationship between KimStim and the filmmaking duo. The distributor previously released León and Cociña's The Wolf House in North America. That first feature premiered at the Berlinale and won the Caligari Film Prize.
León and Cociña have collaborated since 2007. Their short The Bones won the best short film prize in Venice's Horizons section, and their 2024 film The Hyperboreans screened in Cannes Directors' Fortnight.
KimStim was founded in 2000.
