Krypto Saves the Day! Season 2 Episode 2 Hits HBO Max
New episode features DCU characters The Engineer, Baby Joey, Metamorpho, and Lobo.
Krypto Saves the Day! Season 2, episode 2 premiered on HBO Max on Thursday, October 1. The animated shorts series continues its second season with a new installment.
According to Screen Rant, the episode includes appearances by several DC Universe characters: The Engineer, Baby Joey, Metamorpho, and Lobo. These characters have connections to the broader DCU franchise.
The Engineer was played by María Gabriela de Faría in Superman, where she worked with Lex Luthor and fought Superman alongside Ultraman. Her technological enhancements helped Lex translate a message from Jor-El. A movie for The Authority was announced but put on the back burner, and James Gunn claimed the Engineer's DCU future would be revealed in 2027's Man of Tomorrow.
Baby Joey debuted in Gunn's Superman movie, used as blackmail to keep Metamorpho in check, and was rescued by Superman along with Metamorpho. Metamorpho joined the Justice Gang at the end of that film and could appear in 2027's Man on Tomorrow. Jason Momoa played Lobo in 2026's Supergirl, helping Supergirl and Ruthye against Krem of the Yellow Hills; Lobo had already appeared in Krypto Saves the Day! Season 1.
Krypto Saves the Day! is not canon to the DCU, as confirmed by Gunn. The animated series is directly inspired by the DCU franchise, using character dynamics and scenarios like the Supergirl movie's space bus ride.
