Green Lantern's New Dark Lantern Revealed by Concept Artist
Concept artist Ed Natividad posted Instagram renders of John Stewart's power battery, the Dark Lantern, after the Lanterns season 1 finale.
Concept artist Ed Natividad shared renders on Instagram of John Stewart's new power battery, revealing its name: the Dark Lantern. The posts came after the finale of Lanterns season 1.
According to the renders, the Dark Lantern is the battery John Stewart will wield following the events of the finale. In that episode, the battery was shown to be forged by Sinestro on an alien planet using contaminated air and water.
The pollution appears as yellow streaks of concentrated fear across the surface of John's new power battery, a visual detail carried over into Natividad's renders.
Lanterns is currently the No. 1 streaming TV show on HBO Max. Aaron Pierre, who plays John Stewart, is confirmed to return as Green Lantern in James Gunn's Man of Tomorrow, releasing July 9, 2027.
Series co-creator Damon Lindelof told Collider that some writers are working on ideas for a potential Lanterns season 2, though no second season has been announced.
