Linda Hamilton Rules Out Sarah Connor Return in New Terminator Film
Hamilton told JustWatch she did not know another Terminator entry was in development and was surprised to hear it was happening.
Linda Hamilton will not play Sarah Connor again in the new Terminator film being developed by James Cameron, the actor confirmed in an interview with JustWatch. Hamilton said she was not aware that another entry in the series was in development.
She also said she was surprised to hear a new film is being made, pointing to the financial performance of the previous installment. Terminator 7 does not yet have a release date.
Hamilton first played Sarah Connor in the 1984 original and returned for 1991's Terminator 2: Judgement Day. In 2019 she came back to the role for the first time since that film in Terminator: Dark Fate, directed by Tim Miller. That film grossed $261.1 million worldwide against a reported budget of nearly $200 million, the lowest-grossing entry in the series outside the original, and holds a 70% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In 2025, Cameron told The Hollywood Reporter that Arnold Schwarzenegger, who played the T-800, would not appear in the new film and that it was time for a new generation of characters.
