Lionsgate buys film rights to Nathan Fillion's Witness Point comic
Fillion, co-writer Heath Corson and artist Soo Lee revealed the deal at the end of Patton Oswalt's five-hour livestream.
Lionsgate has acquired the film rights to Witness Point, the Dark Horse Comics series co-written by Nathan Fillion and Heath Corson and drawn by Soo Lee. The three creators announced the deal on November 8, 2026, at the end of Patton Oswalt's five-hour Revenge Of Creators Block Party livestream, according to Bleeding Cool.
Witness Point runs four issues and is described as a Midwestern noir set in Baraboo, Wisconsin, a town where the Witness Protection Program has placed people for forty years. The story features local sheriff Carter "Kite" Calhoon and deputy marshal Priya Khabrani.
The announcement also included word that a Witness Point sequel from Dark Horse Comics is being teased for 2027. No director, cast or release date for the film was announced.
From Comic-Con to the screen
Bleeding Cool first flagged Witness Point at San Diego Comic-Con in 2025, when the art was still attached to Kris Douglas; Soo Lee is now credited as the artist.
Copies of the comic have drawn modest interest on the secondary market: a signed variant cover of issue 1 recently sold for $40 on eBay, while regular copies have gone for under $5.
