DC Kills Off Lobo in Lobo #8, Introduces Ex-Lobos Team
Francis Dalex kills Lobo off screen in Lobo #8, and a year later a new group of bounty hunters called the Ex-Lobos promises to carry on his legacy.
DC Comics has killed off Lobo in Lobo #8, the series written by Skottie Young with art by Jorge Corona and Sarah Stern, according to Screen Rant. In the issue, Francis Dalex, described as a former Mauve Lantern, kills Lobo off screen.
The story then jumps forward one year, when Lobo's decomposing body is discovered by a new group of bounty hunters calling themselves the Ex-Lobos. The team includes a cybernetic Lobo, a female bounty hunter, a white-haired Lobo in a red sweater, a small kid-like Lobo, a Black Lobo with dreads, and the New 52 Lobo.
The New 52 Lobo states in the issue that the original Lobo is dead, and the group promises to carry on Lobo's legacy.
The death arrives only a few months after Jason Momoa made his live-action Lobo debut in the movie Supergirl, a brief appearance that seemed to set up a future for the character in James Gunn's DCU.
A character built on coming back
Lobo, a Czarnian bounty hunter known for parodying 1990s dark antiheroes, has a history of returning from death. Both Heaven and Hell banned his soul, so his consciousness returns to the mortal plane after each death, and his Czarnian physiology gives him hyper-accelerated regeneration.
