Michelle Yeoh discussed the upcoming limited series Blade Runner 2099 during a press conference at the Busan International Film Festival on Wednesday. At the event, it was stated that all eight episodes of the series will be released on November 25 on Prime Video.
Yeoh plays Olwen, a replicant Blade Runner nearing the end of her life, while Hunter Schafer plays Cora, a mysterious new recruit. Yeoh will travel to New York Comic Con to promote the series.
The appearance in Busan follows Yeoh receiving the festival's Asian Filmmaker of the Year award at the opening ceremony. She is also presenting It's My Time, a film based on a true story that marks her return to Chinese-language cinema and which she produced. Earlier in 2026, Yeoh received an honorary Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. Her previous visits to Busan include taking part in the Pusan Promotion Plan as a producer in 2002 and attending in 2011 with The Lady; this year's visit is her first in 15 years.
Directing ruled out
During the press conference, Yeoh ruled out directing, saying she loves acting and producing, but that being a director leaves no life.
