Mise En Scene Company Takes Worldwide Sales Rights to Run

The Mise En Scene Company has acquired worldwide sales rights to the comedy-drama Run, the company announced, with a first-look image unveiled exclusively through Variety. MSC will open sales on the film at the American Film Market from the Film Export U.K. stand.

Run stars Sarah Levy as Jane Cooper, Phillipa Soo as Gaby and Adam Pally as Jordan. Chris Redd plays Mitch and Hannah Dunne plays Kountry. Melissa Miller Costanzo directs from the novel Plain Jane by Barrie Levitt Knee, who produces alongside Matt Jensen.

Lost Leaders provides the soundtrack, made up of 11 covers and two original songs, all sung by women including Phillipa Soo and Vicki Peterson. Paul Williams and Wes Hamil wrote the closing-credits song, performed by Williams and Peterson.

About the team

Levy played Twyla Sands on Schitt's Creek, while Soo originated the role of Eliza in Hamilton on Broadway, earning Tony and Emmy nominations. Pally played Max Blum in Happy Endings.

Costanzo directed The List for Universal Pictures and made her writer-director debut with All These Small Moments, which premiered in Tribeca's Spotlight Narrative section in 2018 before Orion Classics picked it up. She has also wrapped A Great Depression, led by Paul Sparks, Kate Burton and Xander Berkeley.

The film is MSC's first pickup in the romantic comedy space. Paul Yates serves as CEO of The Mise En Scene Company, with Jax Katz as executive producer. Broderick Engelhard is the cinematographer, Gino Fortebuono the production designer and Charles Newman the music supervisor. Rory MacDonald brokered the deal for MSC, and David Roth identified the acquisition.
