Netflix's Narnia Trailer Uses Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven'
The first trailer for Greta Gerwig's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew features Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven', licensed for a film for the first time.
Netflix has released the first trailer for Narnia: The Magician's Nephew, directed by Greta Gerwig, and it arrives with Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" on the soundtrack, according to Screen Rant. It marks the first time the band has licensed the song for a film.
The trailer introduces Digory and Polly alongside Daniel Craig's Uncle Andrew and Emma Mackey's Jadis, the character who becomes the White Witch. It also teases Aslan creating Narnia.
Led Zeppelin agreed to the trailer's use of "Stairway to Heaven" after being shown an early cut of the film months before, per Screen Rant. The band had turned down decades of requests to license the song for a film before this.
The Magician's Nephew is the creation story of Narnia in C.S. Lewis' series, whose first book was published in 1950. Disney released adaptations of the earlier books in the early 2000s. Gerwig had previously discussed her rock-and-roll inspirations for the film before the trailer's release.
Narnia: The Magician's Nephew releases on February 12, 2027.
