NBC Adds Five Episodes to 'Line of Fire,' Taking Season 1 to 18
The freshman drama becomes the first new series this season to receive an episode-order extension, and its first season is now set to run through the end of January.
NBC has ordered five additional episodes of Line of Fire, lifting the drama's first-season order to 18 episodes, according to movieweb.com. It is the first new show this season to have its episode order extended.
Created and showrun by Joshua Safran, Line of Fire stars Peter Krause as Mike Hollingsworth, Hope Davis as Jane and Sam Waterston as Thomas Barnes. The cast also includes Kat Cunning as Clare, Tommy O'Brien as Micah and Taylor Bloom as Russ, with Rebecca Thomas directing.
New episodes air Monday nights on NBC and stream the next day on Peacock. With the additional five episodes, the first season is expected to run through the end of January.
The series premiered on September 21, 2026 at 10:00 p.m. ET. In the month since it aired, the premiere drew 14 million cross-platform viewers, while the first three episodes have averaged around 5.06 million viewers after seven days of linear viewing.
Line of Fire improved on the ratings for Brilliant Minds, which ran in its timeslot earlier in 2026. The extension keeps NBC's Monday lineup in originals deeper into the season, joining long-running network staples such as Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D., each of which has run for over 10 seasons, and Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which have each been around for over 20 seasons.
