NCIS Season 24 Premiere Brings Back Tony DiNozzo, Names LaRoche Director
Michael Weatherly returns as Tony DiNozzo in the NCIS season 24 premiere, which also introduces LaRoche as the new Director of NCIS.
NCIS returned for its 24th season with Tony DiNozzo back in the building and a new Director running it, according to Screen Rant. Michael Weatherly reprises the role of DiNozzo in the premiere, which also installs LaRoche as Director of NCIS.
LaRoche makes an immediate mark on the team. He kicks McGee and Torres out of the building, does not welcome DiNozzo, and fires Parker. DiNozzo nonetheless takes part in the episode, serving as a visitor rather than a "Very Special" agent so he can take on tasks the others are not allowed to do. He and Parker begin working together in the premiere.
The premiere also resolves one thread left hanging at the end of season 23. When a gun went off at the close of that finale, neither Torres nor Mateo was injured. In the season 24 opener, it is DiNozzo who ends up with a small injury. The episode mentions The Goonies.
Background
DiNozzo had been away from NCIS for a decade. In the season 23 finale, a gun went off involving Torres and Mateo, and McGee was previously passed over for Deputy Director in favor of LaRoche, which caused friction with Torres.
