Netflix Film Head Dan Lin Dismissed After Three Years
Dan Lin's departure follows 1,000 layoffs and the dismissal of chief content officer Bela Bajaria. Peter Rice is expected to announce new leadership on October 19.
Netflix's Head of Film, Dan Lin, has been dismissed from his role after three years, according to multiple sources who spoke to Variety. The news was reported by screenrant.com.
The dismissal comes after 1,000 employees lost their jobs and chief content officer Bela Bajaria was dismissed. It remains unclear who will replace Lin, and Netflix has not commented.
New leadership is expected to be announced on October 19 by incoming Netflix content chief Peter Rice.
Lin's exit was preceded by a public appearance: on October 18, he attended a screening for La Bola Negra on the Netflix campus.
Separately, Netflix will officially release box office grosses for the first time as it expands plans for theatrical releases.
