Netflix unveils sauna scene of Koji Yakusho in new series

Netflix has released new scene cuts from its upcoming series "Did They Say Anything About Me?" showing Koji Yakusho's character working part-time at a sauna, according to cinematoday.jp. The series will be streamed exclusively worldwide on Netflix from October 22, 2026.

In the images, Yakusho's character, actor Gen Takasegawa, wears a polo shirt, shorts and a twisted headband as he performs aufguss, the sauna ritual in which a staff member distributes heat and steam.

Comedian Satoshi Hashiyasume, known as a professional aufguss master, served as sauna aufguss supervisor and advisor on the series. Yakusho trained directly under him for the sauna scenes.

The series is written by Kankuro Kudo, with Akira Isoyama credited as planner and producer. The cast includes Kento Kaku as Okamoto, alongside Kenichi Matsuyama, Noriko Eguchi, Yumi Kawai, Masatoshi Hamada, Hayato Isomura, Shusaku Kamikawa, Hiroshi Yamamoto, Chisei Nakai, Maki Sakai as Chijimi and Yo Yoshida.

The story follows a major actor, Takasegawa Gen, who returns to Japan two years after the pandemic to find that society and his family have completely forgotten him. Helped by Chijimi, an employee of the sauna shop Shirakaba, and Okamoto, a part-time worker and playwright, he lives and works at the sauna while starting his acting career over from zero.
