Netflix Debuts Narnia Trailer With Rare Stairway to Heaven
Greta Gerwig's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew trailer arrives with Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven, cleared by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page.
Netflix has debuted the first trailer for Greta Gerwig's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew, and the preview is set to Led Zeppelin's 1971 track Stairway to Heaven, according to Deadline.
Gerwig said she showed the film to Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page and spoke with them, and they allowed her to use the song. She said the band agreed because they saw the heart of the story and love C.S. Lewis's work, and that the track had not previously been allowed to be used in anything.
Led Zeppelin had refused previous licensing requests for the song, including a 1995 episode of The Simpsons, Almost Famous in 2000 and last year's Stranger Things finale.
The film adapts C.S. Lewis's prequel book, with David McKenna as Digory, Beatrice Campbell as Polly, Daniel Craig as Uncle Andrew and Emma Mackey as the queen. Narnia: The Magician's Nephew is set for release on February 12, 2027.
