Netflix's Colombian Series 'Under Siege' to Premiere Nov. 6

The eight-part drama, filmed largely in Bogotá, dramatizes the 1985 Palace of Justice siege, with a cast led by Natalia Reyes.

Netflix's Colombian series 'Under Siege' ('Palacio') will premiere on Nov. 6, the streamer said. The eight-part drama was directed by Edgar Nito, Samir Oliveros and Jayro Bustamante, according to Variety.

The series was produced by Dynamo and written by showrunner Natalia Santa alongside Enrique Videla, Enrique Lozano, Jenny Ceballos and Estefanía Piñeres. The cast includes Natalia Reyes, Carlos Manuel Vesga, Robinson Díaz, Luna Baxter, Mariana Gómez, Santiago Alarcón, Nicole Santamaría, Andrés Castañeda and Camilo Amores.

Most of the production was filmed in Bogotá on a set spanning more than 4,000 square meters.

Historical context

The series draws on events of Nov. 6 and 7, 1985, when an M-19 guerrilla commando stormed Colombia's Palace of Justice in Bogotá and the Colombian Army retook the building. At least 94 people were killed or disappeared. The series was backed by more than seven years of research.

In an earlier interview, Netflix's VP of Latin American Content Francisco Ramos called the series "a huge undertaking, even by our own standards." Producer Dynamo celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and Netflix's adaptation of 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' wrapped its second and final season on Aug. 26.
