Nicolas Cage said at New York Comic-Con that he has not signed up for National Treasure 3, according to comingsoon.net. The actor told the crowd he has not made up his mind about returning as Ben Gates.
Cage also teased a hypothetical plot for the film, saying it could involve going after the Epstein files.
On the television side, Cage said he is probably going to do another season of television and that he might do a season of True Detective.
His comments follow a different account from franchise director Jonathan Turteltaub, who previously said, "We're doing National Treasure 3, and Nic's coming."
Cage said earlier this year that he had no idea if a fifth season of True Detective was happening and that he was not signed on to anything. True Detective Season 4 ended two years ago with its finale episode, and the new season was set to begin filming in 2026. Cage was recently seen in Prime Video's Spider-Noir TV show.
