Paramount+ Cancels Criminal Minds: Evolution, Season 20 to Be Its Last

Season 20 had already finished filming when the cancellation was confirmed, and the show was still in Paramount+'s Top 10.

Paramount+ has cancelled Criminal Minds: Evolution, making the drama's upcoming 20th season its final one. The cancellation was confirmed on October 30, 2026, according to Deadline.

Season 20 had already wrapped filming before the decision was confirmed, so the completed season will close out the series. Showrunner Erica Messer commented on the cancellation to Deadline.

Deadline cited sources saying the previous Paramount+ regime had recommended cancelling the series before Casey Bloys, now Co-Chair & Chief Content Officer for Skydance Direct to Consumer, took over. The report also noted that Criminal Minds: Evolution was still in the Paramount+ Top 10 at the time.

The decision followed the completion of the Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount merger in October 2026. In March 2026, Paramount+ had given the show an early Season 20 renewal with a 2027 debut.

A franchise that began in 2005

Criminal Minds, created by Jeff Davis, premiered on CBS in September 2005 and ran for 15 seasons, ending in 2020. Criminal Minds: Evolution has been available on Paramount+ since 2022, and its 19th season debuted in May 2026.
