Paramount+ Sets End Dates for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Starfleet Academy

Paramount+ has officially announced the conclusion of two major series within the Star Trek franchise. The streaming platform confirmed that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will wrap up its run with a final, 6-episode fifth season. Additionally, the network stated that Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will conclude following its second season.

According to screenrant.com, there are currently 16 new episodes of Star Trek content remaining to be released across the franchise. These announcements mark a significant shift in the streaming service's programming strategy for the long-running science fiction universe.

A Changing Landscape for the Franchise

The franchise has seen significant evolution over the last several years. Alex Kurtzman has served as executive producer of the Star Trek franchise since 2017, the same year Star Trek: Discovery originally premiered. More recently, the corporate structure behind the content underwent a major transition when Skydance Media completed its purchase of Paramount Global in October 2025.
