Pixar Names Jonathan Garson President as Jim Morris Steps Back
Garson, Pixar's general manager, takes over on January 4, 2027, while Morris becomes President Emeritus and stays on Incredibles 3.
Jonathan Garson will become President of Pixar on January 4, 2027, the studio announced, succeeding Jim Morris, who moves into the role of President Emeritus after 12 years as president. The announcement was reported by Deadline.
Garson will oversee all production and operations at Pixar and will partner with Pete Docter, who remains Chief Creative Officer. Both Garson and Morris will report to Alan Bergman, Chairman of Disney Entertainment Studios.
Morris joined Pixar in 2005 as its second president, following Ed Catmull. The studio said that during his tenure its feature films have earned more than $12 billion at the worldwide box office. He will continue as executive producer on Incredibles 3, which is set for release on June 16, 2028.
Garson has been with Pixar since 2010 and has spent more than 30 years at Disney; he most recently served as the studio's general manager. In a related move, Jonas Rivera takes on an expanded Creative Executive VP role covering filmmakers and development.
According to Deadline, Morris's transition was long planned and is not connected to Disney's VERO buyout offerings tied to workforce cuts.
