Prime is moving forward with a new take on a Stargate reboot, with Jac Schaeffer developing the project, according to Variety. Schaeffer is best known for WandaVision.
The report comes four months after Prime cancelled an earlier, untitled Stargate reboot. That version had been announced with Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, respectively the director and co-writer of the 1994 Stargate movie, as executive producers, and with Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi attached as consulting producers.
In November 2025, Amazon ordered a new Stargate show from franchise veteran Martin Gero. No release date, cast or production schedule for Schaeffer's project has been announced.
Stargate began with Emmerich's 1994 film and ran for ten seasons on television, spawning the spinoffs Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe and Stargate Infinity, the TV movies Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate Continuum, and the 2018 web series Stargate Origins.
Schaeffer's other credits include work on Agatha All Along, a screenplay for The Hustle and a Story By credit on Black Widow, and she is an executive producer on VisionQuest.
