Prime Video is developing two revivals of 1980s science fiction franchises, with Blade Runner 2099 set to premiere its eight-episode first season on November 25 and a RoboCop series having only just been ordered to series, according to screenrant.com.

Blade Runner 2099 was created by Silka Luisa and is executive-produced by Ridley Scott. Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer are the lead actors. The series is set after a successful replicant uprising, with replicants controlling society and humans living as second-class citizens.

The RoboCop series is being written by Peter Ocko and executive-produced by James Wan. Dan Stevens has been cast as Alex Murphy.

Prior genre work on the platform

Prime Video previously adapted the Fallout games, made The Peripheral and produced The Man in the High Castle. Apple TV has become a destination for prestige science fiction with series including Severance, Silo, Pluribus, Foundation and For All Mankind.
