Prime Video's God of War wraps filming in April 2027 ahead of 2027 debut
Prime Video has ordered two seasons of the live-action God of War series back-to-back, with Dave Bautista playing Kratos.
Prime Video's live-action God of War series is expected to premiere in 2027, with filming on its first two seasons due to wrap in April 2027, according to screenrant.com. The streamer has commissioned two seasons back-to-back.
Dave Bautista plays Kratos, with Teresa Palmer, Ed Skrein, Mandy Patinkin and Alastair Duncan in supporting roles. Ronald D. Moore is the showrunner.
The adaptation skips the Greek mythology era of the games and follows Kratos and his son Atreus.
Prime Video has leaned on game adaptations in recent years: in 2024 it released the Fallout series, which became one of its biggest shows, along with the 15-episode anthology Secret Level and Like a Dragon: Yakuza. Tomb Raider and Life Is Strange adaptations are listed for the service in 2027, while Mass Effect and Wolfenstein are in development without a date.
On the rival side, Netflix's live-action One Piece adaptation became a major success, and its third season is due in 2027.
