Orbit Sets Rachel Gillig Novella The Sprite and the Gargoyle for 2027
The 144-page standalone tale arrives March 16, 2027, in hardcover, ebook and audiobook, with illustrations by Gillig herself.
Orbit announced The Sprite and the Gargoyle, a standalone novella by Rachel Gillig, on October 9, 2026. The book is scheduled for publication on March 16, 2027, according to Screen Rant.
The novella runs 144 pages and will be released in three formats: hardcover at $22 USD, ebook at $12.99 USD, and unabridged audiobook at $14.99 USD. Gillig created exclusive original illustrations for the release, and pre-orders are open now.
Gillig's previous fantasy work established the Stonewater Kingdom setting. The Knight and the Moth, published in 2025, introduced that world, and The Knave and the Moon followed on September 1, 2026, landing at No. 1 on major bestseller lists including The New York Times, USA Today and Publishers Weekly.
Tie-in merchandise for the series includes a Bartholomew plushie, Running Press's Talking Gargoyle Mini-Kit, and a Gargoyle Reading enamel pin sold exclusively at Target. Orbit has not said whether The Sprite and the Gargoyle connects to the Stonewater Kingdom storyline.
