Rakuten TV to Launch Free Streaming Service in the US by End of 2026
Rakuten TV will debut in the United States on TCL TVs, with plans to expand into the Middle East and Japan.
Rakuten TV confirmed it will launch its free ad-supported streaming service in the United States by the end of 2026, initially on TCL TVs, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The platform, which has until now been unavailable in the US, will make its American debut through a partnership with the TV manufacturer.
CEO Cedric Dufour said the company also plans to expand into the Middle East and Japan alongside the US launch.
Rakuten TV, which is Japanese-owned but based in Barcelona, currently operates 500 FAST channels overall and offers 120 channels across Europe. Industry insiders say the service will most likely begin with select movie channels such as Rakuten TV Comedy and Rakuten TV Action.
The launch adds another free streaming option to the US market, with the company already having an existing partnership with TCL.
