Sony Pictures released a new trailer for the animated film Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, ahead of its theatrical release from November 5, according to movieweb.com. Tickets for the film are now on sale.
The film is scheduled to open in cinemas, IMAX and Premium Large Formats. Promotional copy describes it as coming from the visual artists behind The Odyssey and Dune.
The project arrives as big-screen adaptations of the epic continue to draw attention in India. Those include the divisive Adipurush and Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming two-part live-action film starring Ranbir Kapoor.
Peter Jackson and Denis Villeneuve have previously shown that audiences will turn out for sprawling good-versus-evil sagas built on ancient storytelling bones, a path this animated adaptation now follows.
Diwali lands on Nov. 8 this year, days after the film's release.
