Russell T Davies Says He Won't Return to Doctor Who Again

The former Doctor Who showrunner told BBC Radio 2 the show is 'nothing to do with me now,' as the BBC's hunt for new owners continues.

Russell T Davies has confirmed he will not return to Doctor Who a third time. In an interview with BBC Radio 2, the former showrunner said the show is "nothing to do with me now," according to collider.com.

Davies also said it has apparently been announced who is "going for the tender." He did not name anyone.

Earlier this year, the BBC cancelled Doctor Who and began a hunt for new owners, putting it out to competitive tender. Davies had been confirmed to return alongside David Tennant and Catherine Tate, but the revival brought off-screen drama, declining ratings and a Disney partnership that never got going.

Ncuti Gatwa departed as the Time Lord suddenly, with Billie Piper chosen as the replacement. Davies successfully revived Doctor Who in 2005.
