A troubled production
In 2021, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed by a live round fired from Alec Baldwin's prop gun on the Rust set, halting production for 18 months. Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was convicted of involuntary manslaughter over Hutchins' death, while the charge against Baldwin was dismissed.
Rust received a limited theatrical release in May 2025, grossing just under $27,000 worldwide against a budget estimated at around $8 million.
Meanwhile, Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Saga saw its first film underperform, and the second has no release date.
