Sam Altman Addresses 'Artificial' for First Time, Recalls Waving at Andrew Garfield
OpenAI CEO says he has seen the trailer for the Luca Guadagnino film and once waved at Garfield while it filmed near his house.
Sam Altman has commented on the film Artificial for the first time, telling Vanity Fair in a cover story that he has seen the trailer and that star Andrew Garfield walked like him. According to Vanity Fair, Altman also said he once waved at Garfield while the production was filming near his house, and confirmed that the two have never spoken.
Altman said he did not speak to anyone at Amazon about the film, including Jeff Bezos. Neon will distribute Artificial, which premieres on Monday at the New York Film Festival.
Garfield told Esquire U.K. in August that he never met Altman and prepared for the role using the script, court transcripts, interviews and research.
Amazon MGM Studios dropped Artificial after Amazon invested $50 billion into OpenAI. In an interview with Vulture last week, director Luca Guadagnino said he isn't afraid of potential backlash from Altman and his OpenAI associates.
