The official Scooby-Doo Instagram account shared a batch of parody posters that recast the franchise's characters in recent horror hits, according to Bloody Disgusting. The set includes send-ups of Backrooms, Obsession and Weapons, among others.
Scooby-Doo takes the lead in "Snackrooms," a riff on Backrooms, while Velma stars in "Obsessed," a take on Obsession. The Hex Girls appear in "The Hex," a parody of The Craft, and the Ghost Clown headlines "TWIT," a play on It.
Scooby-Doo and Shaggy team up in "Wimps," a parody of Weapons, and Shaggy goes solo in "The Whining," a nod to The Shining. A separate poster titled "The Van in the Woods" parodies The Cabin in the Woods.
"Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?" debuted in the '60s, and the franchise's live-action cast appeared in 2002's Scooby-Doo and 2004's Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed. Those films starred Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini, who between them have credits in I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Grudge, the original Scream and the Five Nights at Freddy's films. Cardellini is set to appear in the Friday the 13th prequel Crystal Lake on Peacock.
