Shadow Lion to Produce Dubai Basketball Documentary 'Yalla, Dubai'

Shadow Lion is producing a new documentary titled Yalla, Dubai: From Startup to Championship, chronicling the rise of Dubai Basketball from its 2023 launch to its ABA League championship, the company announced.

Sami Khan is directing the film and executive producing alongside Shadow Lion's Gilad Haas, Jeff Fine, Lior Haas, David Zabinsky and Philip Byron. Graham McKay and Dan Levy serve as co-executive producers.

The documentary will follow the team's journey from its founding by Chairman Abdulla Saeed Juma Al Naboodah and General Manager Dejan Kamenjašević in 2023. In June, Dubai Basketball won the ABA League title by defeating Partizan 3-1 in the finals.

The film draws on roughly 40 terabytes of archival material and newly captured footage from Dubai, Slovenia and beyond. Interviews include Al Naboodah, Kamenjašević, Aleksander Sekulić, Xavi Pascual, Klemen Prepelič, Dāvis Bertāns and Tristan Thompson.

Khan previously directed Starting 5. Deadline reported the announcement.
