Shapiro Values Skydance at $29B, Debuts Interactive Media Map

The analyst cites an $81B debt load and Oracle ties, and launches an interactive edition of his Media Universe Map at MIPCOM Cannes.

Media analyst Evan Shapiro valued the new-look Skydance at $29B and unveiled the first interactive edition of his Media Universe Map at MIPCOM Cannes this week, according to Deadline.

Shapiro attributed the $29B figure to Skydance's $81B debt pile and its links to Oracle. He said Skydance and Oracle together carry $240B of debt.

The new interactive map lets users compare past entertainment and tech ecosystems with 2026, the year the comparison is set against.

In the latest map, Nvidia was listed as the largest company at $5.3T, ahead of Apple at $4.9T, Alphabet at $4.3T, Microsoft at $3.8T, Amazon at $2.8T and Meta at $1.8T. Oracle was valued at $429B.

Among pureplay media businesses, Netflix was the largest at $293B, ahead of Disney at $187B. Comcast stood at $73B and Fox at $25B, though Fox is set to nearly double when it completes its deal for Roku, valued at $23B. India's Reliance, which houses Disney-backed streamer JioHotstar, was at $164B, and Sony came in at $144B.

Shapiro has been rolling out his media maps for six years. Skydance assumed $81B in debt on its first day of trading, and Oracle, a major shareholder in Skydance, has long-term debts of over $160B due to AI investments. $111B was paid for Warner Bros. Discovery.
