Shawn Levy and his production company 21 Laps Entertainment have signed a multi-year overall deal with 20th Television, part of Disney Television Studios. Under the pact, Levy will develop and produce series across Disney Entertainment's platforms and brands.
The move ends a run of more than a decade in which Levy worked closely with Netflix, where he was a key creative partner on Stranger Things. The Duffer Brothers, that show's creators, recently signed their own film and TV overall deal at Paramount.
Levy remains deeply tied to Disney's film side. He directed and co-wrote Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine, is directing Lucasfilm's Star Wars: Starfighter with Ryan Gosling, and is re-teaming with Gosling on Marvel Studios' Ghost Rider movie. He previously directed 20th Century Studios' Free Guy and the Night at the Museum franchise.
20th TV has been active on the overall-deal front, signing Quinta Brunson and Sue Naegle in recent months. Deadline reported the Levy deal.
