Skydance's David Ellison Unveils Executive Team, Confirms HBO Max and Paramount+ Merger

Casey Bloys will lead content for both platforms as they operate separately for now and eventually be combined.

David Ellison, CEO of Skydance, announced his full C-suite lineup following the acquisition of Paramount and Warner Bros., according to movieweb.com. The announcement confirmed that HBO Max and Paramount+ will eventually be combined into a single streaming service, though they will continue to operate separately in the immediate term.

Casey Bloys will oversee all content across both HBO Max and Paramount+, consolidating creative leadership under one executive. James Gunn and Peter Safran will remain at DC Studios, maintaining their current roles.

As part of the leadership changes, Paramount executives Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg have replaced the Warner Bros. movie production chiefs. Ellison stated that bundling the two streaming services will happen fairly soon.

Creative teams will continue to operate independently as part of a settlement agreement with 12 state attorneys general, who had attempted to derail the merger. Ellison has often said the two services will likely be combined in the near future, and talk of mass layoffs has emerged as the merger proceeds.
