Skydance Taps Goldberg, Greenstein to Lead Combined Film Studios
Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein will oversee all film labels at the merged Skydance-Warner Bros. Discovery, reporting outside the CEO's office.
Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein have been named to preside over all film labels at the combined Skydance-Warner Bros. Discovery company, according to Variety. The appointment follows the dismissal of Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy as co-heads of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group.
In the new structure, the heads of the individual film divisions will report to Goldberg and Greenstein rather than to the CEO's office. The pair previously spent one year as heads of Paramount Pictures, where they greenlit 20 films.
David Ellison, who is leading the combined company, has committed in writing to releasing 30 theatrical films per year across both studios. Skydance carries approximately $80 billion in debt.
The leadership change comes as Warner Bros. Pictures faces a costly release: Tom Cruise's film 'Digger' is projected to lose hundreds of millions of dollars.
Background
De Luca and Abdy led Warner's film business for four years before their departure. During their year at Paramount, Goldberg and Greenstein signed talent deals with the Duffer Brothers, Will Smith, James Mangold, Jon M. Chu and Issa Rae.
