Skydance completes Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition

Skydance now owns Warner Bros. and Paramount, uniting animation units including Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon.

Skydance has completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, a deal that brings Warner Bros. and Paramount under the same corporate ownership. The company confirmed the close of the transaction, according to Cartoon Brew.

Skydance already owned Paramount before the deal. With the acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery now final, both studios sit inside one enlarged company.

The combined group holds a roster of animation operations: Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Nickelodeon, Paramount Animation and Skydance Animation.

Skydance says the enlarged company will produce at least 30 theatrical films and more than 180 television shows and series annually.

Two historic libraries under one roof

Paramount's name appeared on cartoons from Fleischer Studios and Famous Studios, including shorts featuring Betty Boop, Popeye, Superman and Casper. Warner Bros. created Looney Tunes and later became home to Hanna-Barbera, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, along with one of the largest animation libraries.
