Sanderson: Skyward Pilot Pitch Delivered After Delay
Brandon Sanderson says Skyward showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen sent him their latest pilot pitch after a three-month pause.
Brandon Sanderson revealed on a livestream that the showrunners behind the Skyward TV series have sent him their latest pitch for the pilot episode. The update marks a step forward for the adaptation of his book series, which has been in development at Tomorrow Studios.
Sanderson said the showrunners, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, are writing the pilot, and that he will write a small part of it himself. According to Sanderson, the pair took about three months off due to personal and family matters, which delayed development on the project.
The news, first reported by screenrant.com, follows the earlier announcement that Sanderson's Skyward series was in development at Tomorrow Studios. In early 2026, Sanderson also made a deal with Apple TV to adapt his Cosmere universe.
No release date or casting details for the Skyward series have been announced.
