Strange New Worlds will end with a six-episode final season in 2027, returning to a traditional Star Trek episode format, its executive producers say.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will return for its final season in 2027, closing out the Paramount+ series with six episodes. Executive producers Henry Alonso Myers and Akiva Goldsman discussed the ending in an interview with Inverse.
The final six episodes will follow a more traditional Star Trek episode format, while still carrying character arcs that span across the season. Goldsman said the genre swings are gone for the final season.
The series premiered in 2022 as a spin-off of Star Trek: Discovery and a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series. Anson Mount stars as Captain Christopher Pike.
Two new cast members join the final season: Kai Murakami as Sulu, succeeding George Takei, and Thomas Jane as Leonard McCoy, a role previously played by DeForest Kelley.
