IDW launches Star Trek: Zero Point #1 with Captain Musiker

The new series sends the U.S.S. Endeavor to the eyeball planet Merexes III on a mission with a twelve-hour time limit.

IDW Publishing has released Star Trek: Zero Point #1, the first issue of a new comic series that follows Captain Musiker and the U.S.S. Endeavor, according to screenrant.com.

In the opening issue, the Endeavor travels to Merexes III, an eyeball planet covered in thick ice except for a small liquid circle where it sits closest to the sun. The crew's mission there carries a twelve-hour time limit.

The book also notes a hazard of the destination: the ship's hull is built to protect against the vacuum of space rather than water pressure on a high-gravity world. A section titled Exoplanetary Survey Notes, compiled by the Endeavor's science officer, is included in the issue.

Musiker was portrayed by Michelle Hurd in Star Trek: Picard. Star Trek itself was created by Gene Roddenberry, and Star Trek: The Original Series premiered 60 years before 2026.

Starfleet has surveyed and lightly mined eyeball planets before, but no one has explored beneath their surfaces, which is where Zero Point's crew is headed.
