HBO Max holds the largest share of that total, with King-based titles bringing in over $407 million for the platform.

IT: Welcome to Derry is the most lucrative King adaptation on streaming, generating $202 million in revenue in early 2026 alone, according to the same figures.

King's catalogue has been adapted repeatedly across film and television. His novels include Carrie, The Shining, Misery and The Dark Tower series, and his career spans more than five decades with more than 65 novels and hundreds of short stories.

His big break came while he was working as a high school English teacher: his wife Tabitha saved a draft of Carrie, which went on to be published and adapted.
